Update: Fitbit’s Bluetooth Fiasco

Fitbit’s Bluetooth syncing fiasco continues.
To recap – as Samsung rolls out version 4.3 of Android to Galaxy phones, so Galaxy S4-owning Fitbit users are finding that their phone now fails to sync. The news facts are here in this earlier post.

Since then, Fitbit has responded, but in doublespeak:

We apologize for the confusion.

First of all, yes your mobile device is supported. However, there are currently issues syncing your Flex to your Galaxy S4, therefore you can see the “Learn more” on your Android phone.

Once all the testing is done and we can ensure sync reliability, you should be able to sync the Flex to your Samsung phone. Until then, please sync the Flex via Dongle to your computer.

Earlier this week, the firm promised:

Thank you for your inquiry regarding syncing on your Android device. Please note that in order to ensure sync reliability, we are currently in the final stages of testing sync on certain devices running Android 4.3. Once we ensure that there are no major issues we will enable syncing for those devices which previously had syncing ability running Android 4.2.2 or less; we expect this to be within the very near future.

We appreciate your patience as we work to ensure sync reliability.

Like most Galaxy owners, I would guess, I don’t want to sync via the little USB dongle. In fact I had to track it down first, having enjoyed seamless syncing on a Galaxy S3 and then S4 since getting a Fitbit earlier this year.

This is pretty poor, Fitbit. You need to fix this or you will damage your reputation.
