When Will Fitbit Launch Flagship Force in Europe?

What is holding early market leader Fitbit back from launching its new flagship smart wristband into Europe?

At this week’s Wearable Technologies Europe conference, Fitbit had a booth in the exhibition area showing off the Force – but when it came to his presentation in front of 400 delegates waiting for news of the actual launch, Fitbit’s European marketing chief Beniot Raimbault‘s lips were sealed.

Benoit was also keen to reassure the audience that Fitbit’s quality issues as documented here and here by WTW are “few and isolated”. He also dismissed any discussion about reports of possible allergic reactions that appeared on Engadget earlier this month.

It’s a pity, a flagship wearable technology conference like #WTEU14 would have been the perfect place for Fitbit to launch something new, as Rochester Optical did (see this write-up), while Neptune Computer also used the event to give the Pine smartwatch its European debut.

It also explains why Fitbit hadn’t yet managed to launch Force into markets outside the US and Canada, as we noted last month. […]
